Embezzlement

What is embezzlement under Ohio law?

Embezzlement charges are very serious and usually involve an employee in a trusted position, such as a bookkeeper or banker, who unlawfully takes money for his or her own personal use. If you are facing an embezzlement charge it is imperative to contact an attorney immediately.

Do not speak to anyone, including an employer or the police, without having first consulted a criminal defense lawyer skilled in embezzlement defense.

The penalties for an embezzlement conviction are serious.

In the state of Ohio, if you are convicted of embezzlement and the court determines that you have violated a “breach of trust” in your crime, there are additional sentencing guidelines applied. With such serious consequences on the line, you need to be highly selective when you chose a defense attorney.
