Admitted to the Ohio State Bar in 1971 and began his career as a law clerk for Judge William K. Thomas of the US District Court (Northern District of Ohio).

From 1972 to 1978, tried felony cases representing the state of Ohio as an assistant Franklin County prosecutor.

Since 1978, in private practice exclusively in criminal defense in state and federal courts throughout Ohio.
